Overview:
Expressions of interest are now sought from persons who are:
- A veteran with lived experience of suicide, or experience supporting other veterans with lived experience of suicide.
The Suicide Prevention Council is a statutory Ministerial advisory body established under the Suicide Prevention Act 2021 to prepare and maintain the State Suicide Prevention Plan and to make recommendations on policies and programs intended to reduce suicide related distress and death by suicide and enhance postvention responses.
Amongst a range of additional functions, the Council will advise and report to the Minister on the operation and effectiveness of the State Suicide Prevention Plan, receive reports from prescribed State Authorities in relation to their suicide prevention action plans and provide an opportunity and a platform for people with lived experience of suicide to voice their opinions and concerns.
The Council consists of several ex officio members and up to 13 members, who in the opinion of the Minister, collectively have the knowledge, skills and lived experience of suicide necessary to enable the Suicide Prevention Council to effectively carry out its functions.
- Opportunity for a veteran with lived experience of suicide, or experience supporting other veterans with lived experience of suicide to join the Suicide Prevention Council.

The Suicide Prevention Council will meet at least 6 times each year.
The Suicide Prevention Council has been classified as Category 2, Level 2 under the Government of South Australia's Remuneration Framework for Boards and Committees. Eligible members of the Council will receive compensation aligning with these established rates.

Criminal History Screening Requirement
- A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)
- A DHS 'Working With Children Check' (WWCC) is required for this position
Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)
SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
