About the Role:
As a Built Heritage Archaeologist, you will contribute your specialised knowledge to cultural heritage assessments, reporting, and advisory services across various projects. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Built Heritage assessments, including Heritage Impact Statements and Statements of Significance, to identify approval pathways.
- Preparing documentation for Exemption Certificates, Development Approvals, Archaeological Discoveries, and other Built Heritage approvals at the Local and State levels.
- Undertaking archaeological surveys and excavations.
- Providing expert advice on the preservation, conservation, and management of cultural heritage values.
- Determining through historical research and comparative analysis, the cultural heritage significance of values or properties.
- Collaborating with Traditional Owners on field surveys and heritage assessments, where required.
The role requires:
- Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Availability to undertake fieldwork in remote locations.
- Flexibility to work away from home for extended periods.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field (Honors preferred).
- 3-5 years' experience in Built Heritage or similar field.
- In-depth understanding of Non-indigenous and Built Heritage approvals processes at local, state and national levels.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Queensland Heritage Act 1992.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Current First Aid certificate.
- Valid C Class Driver's Licence.
- White Card in Construction.
