Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Workplace Health and Safety Officer to join our Corporate Services Team. The role is responsible for ensuring workplace safety by conducting regular inspections, providing safety training, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This role will play a key part in identifying potential hazards, developing risk mitigation strategies, and maintaining detailed safety records. Strong communication, attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Safety Inspections: Regularly inspect workplaces to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Safety Briefings: Conduct safety briefings and training sessions to educate employees about workplace hazards and safety measures
- Incident Investigations:Investigate workplace accidents and incidents to determine their causes and recommend preventive measures
- Compliance: Ensure that the workplace complies with all relevant safety standards and legislation
- Risk Assessment: Provide advice on work-related health and safety risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, and compliance activities
- Training: Provide training programs to employees, including but not limited to general safety inductions, hazard identification and risk management, incident reporting and investigation, manual handling, and emergency response training.
- All other duties as directed.
To be successful in this position you will have:
- Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (essential)
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (desirable)
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong Communication: Ability to clearly convey safety information and procedures to employees
- Attention to Detail: Keen observation skills to identify potential hazards
- Problem-Solving: Ability to develop effective solutions to safety issues
- Organizational Skills: Efficiently manage documentation and compliance records
Mandatory Conditions of Employment
- Current WA Driver’s License
- Licensed and insured vehicle
- Valid NDIS Workers Screening Check or willing to apply for it upon the successful interview
