Salary: $120,720 - $144,634 p.a.

Generous salary packaging: $15,900 p.a.

Professional development incentive: Allowance of $1,500p/a

Reports to: Executive Manager, Piliyintinji-ki - Stronger Families

Subsidised Accommodation: Available for candidates outside the Barkly Region.

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (Anyinginyi Health) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region, dedicated to ‘Closing the Gap’ in Aboriginal health within remote Australia.

Anyinginyi Health is made up of four different sections (Health Services, Corporate Services, Public Health Unit and Piliyintinji-Ki Stronger Families) which allow them to have a holistic approach to health ensuring that clients’ physical and emotional health and well-being is given the utmost priority.

About the Opportunity

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation have been funded to support the implementation of recommendations from the Tennant Creek & Barkly Region report on Family Violence Report 2022 - ‘It takes a whole community approach to violence’.

Working in partnership, and collaboration with the Barkly Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction Network, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for formalising a local focus group who are able to discuss and inform services of the people who are experiencing and affected by family violence. This group would be responsible for advocating key community priorities, which would address family violence. Additionally, the role will lead a small team of DFSV community connectors to implement community awareness raising actives aligned with the recommendations of the Family Violence report 2022 and the community priorities set by the Barkly Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction Network.

More specifically, some of your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Undertake community consultation to support implementation of recommendations from the Tennant Creek and Barkly Region Report on Family Violence.
  • Investigate options for innovative coordination of family violence services including a centralised site supporting streamlined access for community members to access services and supports in a culturally safe space and increased opportunity of service collaboration
  • To develop a range of solutions that promote healing through trauma Informed approaches that identify and empower community members including culturally safe, on country services and supports.
  • Develop new or implement existing DFSV community awareness raising activities (including monitoring and evaluation mechanisms) to raise awareness of:
  • what DFSV is, including in cultural context of Tennant Creek and the Barkly region

Essential skills and experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in the human services fields and demonstrated working experience working delivering Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence services.
  • Strong understanding of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence issued in Central Australia and the impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people.
  • Demonstrated ability working in Aboriginal community or health services and ability to support the delivery of culturally responsive, trauma informed programs and services, with an understanding of the importance of traditional cultures, values and protocols.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective networks and relationships with Aboriginal communities.
  • Experience in project and resource management, planning, coordination, and implementation
  • High level communication skills with the ability to provide strategic input
  • Ability to provide leadership and manage a team effectively.
  • Strong ICT and writing skills and a record of authoring successful performance reports, internal briefing papers and board reports.

Desirable

  • Experience and knowledge of the Tennant Creek and Barkly Region
  • Ability to speak a local language.
