About the opportunity:

Position: Clinical Nurse (Stoma Therapy)

Vacancy: Temporary Full-time (Commencing ASAP up to 12 months with a possible extension up to 12 months)

Location: Surgical Outpatients / Surgical Service Group / Townsville University Hospital

The purpose of the Clinical Nurse – stoma therapy position is to provide comprehensive nursing assessment, education and coordination of care for patients and their family requiring stoma therapy service within the hospital and community setting.

  • Salary range: $4138.10 to $4431.10 per fortnight (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications/ professional registration/ other requirements

  • Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a required qualification for this position.
  • Nursing: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Highly Desirable: Tertiary Qualification relevant to the position or working towards a relevant Qualification.
  • Highly Desirable: Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment.
  • Highly regarded: Advanced clinical problem-solving skills and ability to plan and evaluate nursing interventions for patients / clients that have less predictable outcomes.
  • Highly regarded: Ability to meet the demands of the role in relation to self-awareness and management, flexibility to adapt to unexpected changes/events, emotional control in response to potential stressors e.g. Clinic loads and scheduling of Clinic appointments, time management, managing doctor/ patient enquiries.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
