About the opportunity:
Position: Clinical Nurse (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner)
Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary part-time, 28 hours per fortnight up to 30/06/2028.
Location: Townsville University Hospital and Townsville Watchhouse
The Clinical Nurse (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) is responsible for delivering and managing effective clinical care for inmates at the Townsville Watch House. Nurses from the Clinical Forensic Medicine Unit (CFMU) visit the watch house daily to assess prisoners, coordinate their care and treatment, and refer those needing medical attention in consultation with the Metro North Virtual Emergency Department.

- Salary range: $54.44 to $58.30 p.h. (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1)

Requirements:
- Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
- Nursing: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- Successful completion of/ or working towards completion of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) course provided by Forensic Medicine Qld. This includes completion of the online component of the course and attendance at a two day workshop. Funding for the SANE course will be provided.
- Appropriate credentialing of the CN/SANE in sexual assault examinations will be provided by the CNC CFMU.
- Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster. The CN/SANE will be required to contribute to the cover of the 24/7 on call CFMU roster including weekend cover and, weekday leave cover of permanent staff when required.
- Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.
- The applicant ideally will have a working knowledge of a range of software packages used in the clinical and management environment, including the ieMR, The Viewer, Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, Matrix and Power Point.
