Description:
We are currently seeking multiple positions for an AO6 Senior Project Officer and AO5 Project Officers to work with our government client on the Fire Ants Suppression Task Force (FAST). These roles are on a contracted basis with strong possibility of extension and have a pay rate of $66.86-$76.50 per hour + super. Located in Berrinba or Mutdapilly, other facilities across Southeast Queensland may also be considered.The Role:
AO6 Senior Project Officer x1
- Develop and apply project management skills to plan, deliver, and evaluate the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce aerial treatment project, ensuring effective coordination, reporting, and risk tracking.
- Supervise and support a small project team to ensure efficient delivery while overseeing data recording processes, including mapping, field data capture, and integration into National Fire Ant Eradication Program IT systems.
- Provide technical advice to large landholders on fire ant management strategies, including risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment, and reporting, while coordinating activities to facilitate aerial and land-based treatment.
- Represent the Department at workshops, field days, and meetings, engaging with large landholders to promote fire ant management initiatives and compliance.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across the National Fire Ant Eradication Program and FAST, with occasional weekend work required.
- Plan and execute aerial treatment activities for the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce, engaging large landholders including primary producers, government agencies, and high-risk industries in fire ant management and self-regulation.
- Provide technical guidance on fire ant risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment, and reporting.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships by participating in workshops and providing expert advice on fire ant management in alignment with biosecurity legislation.
- Oversee project activities, including farm assessments, fire ant self-management plans, data recording, and tracking deliverables and risks.
- Support the operational delivery of FAST, contributing to the National Fire Ant Eradication Program’s eradication efforts, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance coordination and effectiveness.
Essential:
- Must hold a current unrestricted ‘C’ class driver’s licence
- Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a visa that allows you to work in Australia
- Experience in project management or operational project delivery
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Willingness to conduct site visits and fieldwork.
- Ability to manage data, reporting, and IT systems.
- Flexibility for occasional weekend work.
- Experience in biosecurity, pest control, or environmental projects would be advantage
- Government or regulatory experience.
- Knowledge of GIS or mapping software.
- Qualifications in agriculture, environmental science, or project management
