The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill multiple vacancies of Operations and Operations Support, Various Roles (APS4), in the Data Sourcing Division.
About the roles
1. Data Acquisition Officer – Administrative Data Acquisition (ADA) (Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney)
ADA Data Acquisition Officers are responsible for coordinating, setting up and delivering administrative datasets across legacy and new Data Acquisition (DA) platforms.
2. Support Officers (ICT), Collection Management (Canberra or Geelong)
The Support Officers are responsible for providing IT/user support.
3. Lead Survey Officer - Data Sourcing Contact Centre (Geelong and Melbourne)
APS4 Roles in DSCC complete higher priority and more complex work compared with entry roles in DSCC. Roles are available across all streams in DSCC.
4. Correspondence Support Officer – Provider Liaison Team (PLT), Data Collection Design Centre (DCDC) (Geelong)
The Correspondence Support Officer is responsible for the creation and preparation of correspondence for business and household surveys using existing systems.
5. Program Support Officer – DA Modernisation Program Management Office (Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney)
The Program Support Officers are responsible to contribute to the achievement of project outcomes by supporting Project and Program Management Officers.
6. Team Support Officer - DA Modernisation Change and Communication Management Office (Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney)
The Team Support Officers are responsible to provide support to the Change and Communication team and support program change initiatives using the agreed enterprise change management framework.
7. Lead Data Capture Officer - Despatch and Capture Unit (DCU) (Geelong - office based only due to nature of the role)
Lead Data Capture officers manage day to day operations of Data Capture functions.
8. Lead Despatch Officer - Despatch and Capture Unit (DCU) - (Geelong - office based only due to nature of the role)
The Lead Despatch Officer focuses on operational outcomes within the Despatch Team. This role involves a combination of desk-based work and active engagement in a production room environment.
9. Project Support Officers - HSO Support and Compliance (Geelong, Melbourne or Canberra)
Project Support Officers work in teams responsible for delivering Interviewer support functions in various areas of specialised responsibility.
10. Lead Survey Officer – Despatch and Capture Unit (DCU) - Provider Engagement Team (PET) (Canberra, Geelong and Melbourne)
The Lead Survey Officer undertakes case-style management of a subset of the ABS's most statistically significant Business survey providers, assisting them to meet the business' needs and minimise burden while ensuring compliance with survey deadlines and promoting high-quality data outcomes.

- To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively engage with and manage stakeholders/customers.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team and ensure work is delivered on time and to expected
- Capacity to identify potential issues and propose appropriate solutions using sound judgement and reasoning.
- Capacity to identify innovations and implement improved work practices.
- Excellent proficiency with I.T systems e.g., Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to understand and follow processes and procedures to ensure work is delivered.
