Description:
We are looking for a Clinical Assistant to join us in making a difference within Pathology Queensland.
You will work as part of a team providing pre-analytical processing of clinical specimens within the Serology section, Microbiology Division and participating in a roster from Mondays-Saturdays.
What you'll do
- Implement and monitor the organisation's quality standards, occupational health and safety policies, procedures and programs.
- Perform general laboratory duties including the receipt of specimens and the registration of requests into the laboratory information system.
- Preparation of specimens for aliquoting, labelling and storage.
- Preparation of specimens to send to referral laboratories.
- Maintenance of a safe working environment by participating in the routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance of instruments, equipment and work areas in the laboratory.
- Receipting in laboratory stock items and keeping accurate records of delivery.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality pre- and post-analytical processing of clinical specimens for Serology Laboratory
- Ability to effectively use or quickly acquire the ability to use the laboratory information system (Auslab).
- Demonstrated ability to work conscientiously and accurately with minimal local supervision.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
- Experience in a laboratory dealing with specimens for infectious diseases, Serology testing would be an advantage.
- The successful applicant will be required to participate in a roster from Mondays-Saturdays.
