The Role
An opportunity has become available for several Allied Health - Cadets (Speech Pathology) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Perform duties under the direction and clinical practice supervision by an allied health practitioner
- Undertake supported clinical reasoning and provide recommendations for care planning as confirmed or modified by the supervising allied health/health practitioner
- Initiate changes to treatment programs under the supervision of the allied health practitioner
- Provide education to patients and their families on a defined range of topics
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- To be a student enrolled full time (defined as at least 75% of the full-time study load) at an Australian university, in a Speech Pathology degree
- Whilst not mandatory, it is highly desirable that students have completed some or all of their student clinical placements in a relevant setting
- Working with Children check/Blue Card (GCH will cover cost)
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Driver Licence
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Casual (multiple positions available)
- Base salary ranging from $38.69 - $45.51 per hour

An Allied Health Cadet performs a range of clinical support activities and on the job skills development while engaged in formal tertiary studies necessary to acquire the relevant entry level qualification (mandatory) for employment as a Health Practitioner in Queensland.
