What position do we have on offer?
Based in our national head office in Melrose Park SA, the Product Engineer will be responsible for the compliance and quality program, as well as the design, development, and continuous improvement of WIA’s product range.
Reporting to the Product Development and Technical Services Manager, this role involves close collaboration with engineering and service teams, and cross-functional teams, to support driving WIA’s product initiatives and implementing successful product strategies.
In this role, you'll be responsible for:
- Managing all compliance and reporting requirements for the welding equipment range.
- Developing and implementing standard operational procedures for equipment conversions.
- Working closely with product and marketing experts to develop new products.
- Managing the prototyping process from design to testing and conducting prototype testing.
- Creating comprehensive technical documentation, including manuals, reports, and drawings.
- Liaising with suppliers throughout production process to ensure adherence to required quality standards.
- Collaborating on warranty and service matters to effectively capture reliability and quality risks and maintaining quality standards to facilitate continuous improvement of WIA’s products and services.
- Providing expert technical advice to cross-functional teams, actively collaborating and providing regular updates.
- Maintaining strong communication with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating seamless project coordination and information flow.
- This position may require occasional travel for supplier meetings and training.

- Graduate or post-graduate qualifications in Engineering (Electrical).
- Proven experience in a similar Product Engineer role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant product safety, electrical, compliance, and performance standards, and the ability to apply them effectively.
- Experienced in the diagnosis and repair of electronic and electrical failures.
- Familiar with welding processes and applications and possesses a positive attitude towards learning and acquiring new skills required for product development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a culturally diverse team.
