Our services assist and support individuals and families living with a disability, provide personalised employment supports and deliver out-of-home care for children and young people. We also recruit, train and support workers, carers, and volunteers to work in our communities.
About the role
The Kinship & Foster Carer Assessment and Support Team, work with carers, children and young people, and key stakeholders to ensure great outcomes in the lives of children and young people.
The Kinship and Foster Carer Cultural Support Officer role is responsible for providing support and guidance to Kinship Carers, Foster Carers, and Children and Young People by liaising directly with the Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities (TFHC) on their behalf. Ensuring a high standard of Compliance and Administration against internal and external standards.

Skills and Experience
Responsibilities:

Provide support for children and young people in care, in line with high organisational standards

Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed programs of support
-
Provide case management assistance to children and young people as needed
-
Actively promote cultural connection and facilitate activities of cultural connection for children and young people
-
Maintain high levels of administrative support across all areas of the program

Recruitment and assessment of Kinship & Foster Carers in line with the organisational policy

Conduction organisational inductions for Kinship & Foster Carers

Facilitate Carer training based on policy and Carer needs
-
Participate in On Call 24-Hour Roster

Essential Criteria:

Knowledge of the Out of Home Care Program run in the Northern Territory
-
High level of computer literacy
Desired Criteria / Qualifications:
-
Relevant industry knowledge and experience in the field of youth services, children’s services, or child protection
-
Relevant knowledge in Kinship and Foster Care/Out of Home Care sector, and/or working with children with complex needs
