About the opportunity
Westgold Resources are sourcing a Senior Exploration Geologist to provide full statutory supervision and geological guidance to the HGO Exploration team.
The position will be offered to the successful incumber on a permanent 8 days on, 6 days off roster and will be based at Higginsville Gold Operations in the Southern Goldfields.
Westgold's Higginsville Project forms 1,900km2 of contiguous tenure throughout the southern Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt. The tenure overlays some of the region's most prospective ground for mineralisation, inclusive of the Boulder-Lefroy and Zuleika Shear Zones which play host to many of the major gold deposits throughout the belt.
The role includes
- Lead, guide and mentor exploration geologists and field staff to continuously develop their skills and ensure succession capability across key roles
- Ensure heritage and environmental compliance for all exploration activities undertaken
- Maintain and foster a positive team environment within the exploration department
- Oversee contractors and consultants to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently and complies with required company and legislative requirements
- Working with the Exploration Manager and Chief Growth Officer, actively contribute to the generation of a high-quality target pipeline through the timely evaluation of multidisciplinary data sets over the company's leases
- Ensure programs costs are accurately captured and reported
- Assist with the production of departmental reports including geological, weekly, monthly, completion, expenditure, budgeting and summary reports
What do I need?
- Minimum bachelor's degree in geology from a recognized institute
- 8+ demonstrated years in Archean Gold Exploration, including regional and generative exploration
- Understanding of JORC compliant guidelines for exploration and mineral resources
- Understanding of Western Australian Mining Law and statutory requirements
- Advanced GIS skills in the use of MapInfo or QGIS
- Advanced knowledge of 3D software (Micromine or Leapfrog)
- Strong technical abilities with a broad exposure to Archean Gold mineralisation
- Ability to prepare and manage comprehensive budgets and provide reconciliation reports
- Previous experience managing exploration teams
