Position Overview

The Quality Control/Foreman plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standard of workmanship and service delivery in the workshop. This position is responsible for overseeing the quality of repairs and servicing, conducting final inspections, mentoring technicians and apprentices, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer guidelines and safety regulations. The role also involves diagnosing complex faults, providing technical support, and improving workshop efficiency through effective leadership and quality assurance processes.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Inspection

Conduct thorough quality control checks on all completed work before vehicle delivery.

Identify and rectify any faults, ensuring compliance with manufacturer standards.

Provide feedback and coaching to technicians on quality improvement.

Minimise rework and warranty claims by maintaining high repair standards.

Technical Leadership & Support

Assist technicians with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and complex repairs.

Stay updated with the latest vehicle technology and manufacturer procedures.

Support and guide apprentices in learning correct repair and service techniques.

Workshop Efficiency & Productivity

Monitor and enhance workshop productivity by ensuring jobs are completed efficiently.

Work closely with the Workshop Controller to allocate jobs effectively.

Assist in reducing vehicle downtime and improving first-time fix rates.

Customer Satisfaction & Service Quality

Ensure customer expectations are met by maintaining high repair and service standards.

Support Service Advisors in explaining complex technical issues to customers.

Address customer complaints related to repair quality and take corrective actions.

Training & Staff Development

Conduct regular in-house training sessions to upskill technicians and apprentices.

Promote continuous learning and encourage staff to attend manufacturer training programs.

Develop and implement best practices for quality control and service improvement.

Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Compliance

Ensure all safety protocols and workshop WHS policies are strictly followed.

Conduct risk assessments and ensure tools and equipment are in safe working condition.

Address and report any safety concerns or hazards immediately.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Quality & Rework Reduction

Maintain a rework rate below X% (e.g., less than 2% of completed jobs).

Ensure 100% completion of final quality inspections before vehicle handover.

Keep warranty claim rejections below X% due to workshop errors.

Workshop Productivity & Efficiency

Maintain a first-time fix rate above X% (e.g., 95%+).

Ensure jobs are completed within estimated time frames to minimise delays.

Reduce technician downtime and improve workshop efficiency to X%+ .

Training & Staff Development

Conduct at least one structured training session per month for technicians.

Ensure all apprentices achieve progress milestones in their training programs.

Customer Satisfaction & Service Standards

Maintain a customer satisfaction rating of X%+ based on service feedback.

Ensure zero major customer complaints related to workmanship.

Workplace Health & Safety

Ensure zero WHS breaches or safety incidents due to non-compliance.

Conduct and document monthly safety audits and risk assessments .
