About the Applicant and the position:
We're looking for a qualified chef or cook that loves the industry, loves cooking in a busy environment and wants to be part of a friendly and supportive team.
You ideally like cooking a variety of food styles and have worked in the kitchen of a busy local business serving up flavoursome modern Australian food using high quality ingredients presented beautifully.
Under the training of our experienced Head Chef, you can contribute your skills and learn everything you need to know about preparing delicious food in a la carte and functions service business as well as important skills in kitchen operations, costing, leadership and staff training.
Featuring more than a dozen function rooms and bookable spaces ranging in size from small groups of 6 to 350 persons seated or as big as 600 standing, this is a significant opportunity for a trade qualified applicant to be part of.
About the Company:
The Arkaba Hotel recently completed renovations including a brand new state of the art kitchen with all the modern conveniences. We also have an all new bar, additional table service restaurant, casual dining area and additional function spaces. Our Sports Bar had a big update with massive bigscreen, funnel shaped curved screen around the bar, huge new outdoor area, plus digital darts and Shuffl board all added in. The function room that sits above it all at the Top of the Ark was also fully renovated including a major AV update.
We have flexible hours of work available to suit those looking for a variety of casual work options to suit their needs, including a combination of days, evenings and weekends.
The successful applicant will have:
- Completed an apprenticeship and hold a Trade Qualification as a Chef
- Experience with a la carte cafe, bistro or restaurant food service
- The ability to work calmly under pressure
- A high standard of food plating and presentation
- Have a positive attitude and take direction from supervisors well
- Strong knowledge of relevant food safety requirements
- Exceptional hygiene and cleaning practices
- A hands-on approach and "can do" attitude
