The Parliamentary Officer is accountable for the provision of effective, efficient, professional and impartial procedural and administrative support to the Assembly, its Committees and Members.
Parliamentary Officers effectively liaise within Parliament, with government, its agencies and the community so that Members of Parliament are able to effectively discharge their Parliamentary duties.
The House of Assembly has multiple Parliamentary Officer positions, each with specific roles and responsibilities. These positions form a “pool” to support the activities of either the Committees Office or the Procedure Office. Staff must be prepared to be assigned to any of these positions (sometimes at short notice). This optimises resource allocation to meet business needs, develop staff competencies and promote career development, in accordance with the Assembly's organisational needs.
Special Conditions
The positions form part of a pool of Parliamentary Officers and assignment to either the Procedure Office or Committees Office is determined by the Clerk of the House of Assembly. Please review the role description for more detail.
A probationary period of six months is required.
