About the role:
The Senior Policy Adviser, Diversity and Access will contribute to system improvement and reform activities that focus on improving the health and wellbeing outcomes for diverse Victorian communities including:
- designing and testing new policy directions and reform
- providing expert policy advice across the department, to other departments and to government on the needs of diverse cohorts, such as refugees and people seeking asylum
- coordinating the implementation of system improvement projects, including cross-department refugee and asylum seeker budget initiatives
- leading or supporting engagement with sector and community partners, such as the Victorian Refugee Health Network.
About you:
We are looking for someone who can:
- Provide high quality policy advice, options and recommendations to senior management and government based on comprehensive research and analysis.
- Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, and Cabinet submissions.
- Represent the department on key stakeholder committees and groups concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives and contribute to relevant committee and governance processes.
- Forge strong connections across the department and with the health sector to share information and facilitate a partnership approach to implementation of key initiatives.
- Coordinate and develop complex briefing products for Cabinet, Ministerial, senior departmental executive and executive sector stakeholders.
- Work across multiple projects, including engaging with stakeholders, and working in multidisciplinary teams to meet emerging pressures and demands, as required.
Qualifications/ Specialist Expertise
- A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in fields related to public policy, health or community services is desirable. Relevant lived experience and diverse community connections highly regarded.
- Demonstrated understanding of diversity, intersectionality and inclusion approaches.
- Extensive knowledge of the health and wellbeing needs of diverse communities in Victoria, including refugees and people seeking, multicultural communities and LGBTIQ+ communities.
