The Principal Policy Adviser Regulatory Reform and Policy, is responsible for providing expert and strategic advice on legislative and regulatory reforms, and delivering reforms on behalf of the Department's Health Regulator. The Legislative and Regulatory Reform team is also responsible for strategic development of the reform agenda for the Health Regulator, and for supporting coordination and prioritisation of the Department's legislative agenda. The position will play a key leadership role in ensuring that the regulatory frameworks administered by the Health Regulator are fit for purpose, and that reforms advanced by the Department are informed by technical expertise and best practice legislative and regulatory design principles.

About you:
We are looking for someone who can:
- Provide authoritative and strategic expert advice on legislative and regulatory reform proposals and projects across the Health Regulator portfolio and broader Department portfolios, to a range of stakeholders including senior executives.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external), lead planning and delivery of consultation and engagement to inform reforms, including representing the Health Regulator and Department at relevant forums.
- Lead planning and management of reform projects, to deliver on policy and strategic aims and meet relevant timeframes. Includes establishing and maintaining documentation and systems to ensure visibility of plans and progress, support updates to the Executive and Ministers and allow timelines and resources to be managed.
- Contribute to the strategic and business planning for the team and Unit, and take a leading role in driving strategic aims in those plans. This may be through design and delivery of reform projects and through supporting development of reform capabilities and resources the team, Unit and Branch.
A tertiary qualification in fields related to public policy, regulation, economics or law would be desirable.
Experience in legislative and regulatory reform would be highly desirable
