About the role:
In this role, you will be a policy leader within the System Reform unit, helping to develop and deliver reforms, with a strong focus on the hospital system. This includes supporting the delivery of the Health Services Plan (available at www.health.vic.gov.au/research-and-reports/health-services-plan), which was announced by the Premier in August 2024. The Plan seeks to build a more connected health system that delivers the right care, at the right time, in the right place for all Victorians.

We work collaboratively with other teams in the department – such as health service managers, evaluators, data scientists, and policy specialists – as well as with health sector representatives. About you:
- Is passionate about making a real difference to people's health through large-scale, systemic hospital reforms
- Is curious and a big-picture thinker, follows emerging health trends, and can use their communication skills to influence and drive reform
- Works collaboratively to share ideas, develop and test options, and deliver high-quality work, and\
- Is a policy leader who proactively builds and leverages strong networks and uses their experience and knowledge to provide evidence-based, sound policy advice.
Highly desirable:
- A strong understanding and knowledge of the policy context and direction of the Victorian health system.
- Experience implementing large-scale health or hospital reforms.
- Authoritative writing skills and demonstrated experience drafting diverse documents tailored to specific audiences.
- Other technical skills or knowledge that would support you to deliver this role - e.g. clinical experience.
- A tertiary qualification in fields related to health, politics or public administration would be desirable.
