Position Overview
The Events Manager sits within the Corporate Services division (please see our Organisation Overview below) and has responsibility for the delivery of tasks associated with the coordination of professional member events & QAIHC internal social activities. The position reports to the People & OD Officer.
Key Responsibilities include:-
Perform the characteristics (broad job requirements) and select functions (typical duties) as described below and as identified by a Manager;

Administer specialist event activities (QAIHC and Members) in relation to planning, organising, logistics, and related ad-hoc coordination and facility booking requirements;

Liaise with the Communications and Graphics Team to ensure appropriate publicity, marketing and communication of all events;

Engage with the administrative and logistical support team to coordinate and arrange any relevant material for the meetings and appointments;

Research and recommend suitable venues and options based on the event size, budget;

Assist with arranging meeting venues, conferences and catering;

Develop and manage a detailed timeline for event preparation and execution;

Contribute to, and promote a culture of quality improvement in the provision of corporate services and support administration staff;

Manage the event execution and all incidental tasks with the involved QAIHC stakeholders;

Provide post-event debrief and recommendations to enhance future events

Manage established supplier relationships including managing contracts of engagement, and/or service level agreements and contribute to processes of establishing new suppliers;

Support the Administration Officers and Receptionist by assisting with travel bookings, front desk, telephone, daily mail and other related duties.

Demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services (desirable, not essential).

Demonstrate understanding of and experience with events coordination.

Demonstrate high level analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to remain focused and agile, proactively identify and manage risks and issues and the ability to challenge issues constructively.

Demonstrate high levels of integrity and resilience with the capacity to monitor, prioritise and meet deadlines.

A minimum 2 years’ events coordination experience. From conception to planning, execution and post-event analysis/debrief.

High level communication skills including the ability to lead engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, communities and their leaders, respecting traditional culture, values and ways of doing business to drive events coordination outcomes.

Resourceful, resilient and comfortable working alone (whilst also engaging with the broader team).

Demonstrated ability to identify key stakeholders, develop networks with QAIHC members and service providers to maximise spend and enhance events attendee satisfaction.

Exceptional relationship skills and an ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders

Relevant tertiary qualification in hospitality or related industry (or currently undertaking studies).

Current, unrestricted C class driver licence.

A probationary periodof six (6) months will apply to appointees.

Our members deliver comprehensive and culturally appropriate, world class primary health care services to their communities.
QAIHC was established in 1990. Our vision is the elimination of disparities in health and wellbeing experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland. QAIHC contributes to this vision by leading the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland through evidence based, practical public policy solutions.

Population and Public Health
The Sector Development business division of QAIHC works closely with the sector to lead and build the organisational capacity and capability of our members. Our four sector development focus areas cover the risks and opportunities that impact on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland. We develop the sector through leadership development, education, workforce planning, a Continuous Quality Improvement framework (quality standards and quality management) and through the promotion of a socially equitable funding model and system.
Policy, Advocacy, Leadership & Strategy (PALS) OverviewThe Policy and Research business division of QAIHC is responsible for developing high quality public policy, submissions and publications that influence change. Our four policy focus areas (primary health care, health service systems, health funding and health workforce) cover the risks and opportunities that impact on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland.
This division of QAIHC is also responsible for ensuring that health service leaders in Queensland have an opportunity to contribute directly to the development of public policy and for establishing quality, long term relationships with external partners who want to contribute to the work QAIHC undertakes.
Population and Public Health OverviewThe Population and Public health division of QAIHC provides public health and clinical advice and support, and policy analyses consistent with current best or evidence-based practice to member services and relevant QAIHC programs across other Divisions. Support is given for continuing quality improvement, epidemiology and data analysis, disease prevention, health promotion, position statements and submissions, including public health physician training. Member engagement is though the QAIHC Clinical Leaders Forum.
Corporate Services OverviewThe Corporate Services business division of QAIHC provides high level entity-wide administrative and operational support to all QAIHC. This support includes financial, facility and information and communication technology (ICT) systems and process management. The Corporate Services business division is responsible for human resource support services, procurement and the marketing and communication functions of QAIHC.
