About The RoleThe primary purpose of this role is to provide advice on lived experience and contribute to the development, design, and delivery of research led by the Mental Health Evaluation stream at the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research (QCMHR). The role will also shape and strengthen how lived/living experience is embedded across the Stream's functions.
About You
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Knowledge and skills in the discipline of lived/living experience work and have a personal lived experience of mental health challenges, service use, periods of healing/personal recovery OR experience of supporting someone through mental health challenges, service use, periods of healing/personal recovery.Ability to apply lived/living experience to improve projects, programs, policies and/or systems that deliver health or human services.Ability to work effectively as part of a high functioning autonomous team, demonstrating initiative and independence whilst adhering closely to operational priorities and objectives.Commitment to empathy and appreciation for the lived/living experiences of mental health consumers and other stakeholders.Experience in community engagement and participation, with a particular focus on consumers.Ability to provide written and verbal expertise related to lived/living experience and safely and appropriately manage the application of your lived experience to inform your role, including the application of self-awareness, self-reflection, and self-care skills.
Mandatory Requirements
Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to have a personal lived/living experience of mental ill health, Alcohol and Other Drug and/or suicidality.Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
