The Marketing & Tourism Officer is responsible for implementing Council's regional destination marketing strategies and activities to increase visitor numbers, visitor spending, length of stay and repeat visits to the Maranoa Region. The role supports the delivery of Council's Regional Economic Development Strategy, Visitor Services Strategy and the requirements of the Council Plan.
In Particular, The Role Is To
- Coordinate delivery of Council's destination marketing initiatives.
- Create content for Council's tourism marketing channels.
- Maintain Council's tourism digital and social media platforms.
- Facilitate external event organisers' contact with Council.

Mandatory and Highly Desirable Qualifications and Licences:
Requirements
To be successful you will need to demonstrate that you have (or have the ability to meet within twelve months of appointment) the below mandatory requirements for the role:
- Current C (Car) Class Driver License
- Degree or Diploma with relevant experience, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience, in one or more of the following - marketing, tourism, community / cultural / economic development and/ or equivalent level of experience and expertise in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering innovative marketing tourism campaigns
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the private and public sectors including the ability to write an extensive range of communication materials demonstrating attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability in developing, maintaining, and growing strategic alliances with key community, public and private sector organisations and individuals.
- A proven track record in effectively working with a broad range of stakeholders in a regional environment to develop and deliver successful tourism marketing initiatives
- Substantial project planning and management skills including the development, delivery and evaluation of a diverse range of marketing projects following through to completion.
- A proven capability to be creative and the ability to think strategically with an understanding of communications and marketing principles.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing marketing strategies within budgets and timelines.
- A high level of initiative and drive with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a high performing disciplined group of people
- A demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and productively ensuring all projects and events are planned and executed within scope, timeframe and budget.
- This position can be based at one of our regional offices (Roma, Mitchell, Yuleba, Surat, Injune) If the successful candidate is not based in Roma, travel to Roma will be required.
- Full-Time Position - 36.25hours per week
- Maranoa Regional Council Certified Agreement 2023 - Stream A- Level 7
- Work a 9-day fortnight with a Rostered Day Off.
- Access Long service leave after seven (7) years
- Five weeks of annual leave annually
