Job Title: Head of Operations (Legal)
Location: Sydney CBD
Salary Range: $180,000 - $260,000 p.a.incl. super
About the Role:
Our client is a multi-award-winning national law firm renowned for its progressive and disruptive approach, providing exceptional services across 25 practice areas. With ambitious plans for growth, the firm seeks an accomplished and personable professional as its new Head of Operations, based in Sydney's CBD on a full-time basis.
As Head of Operations, you will oversee critical support functions (excluding Finance, Marketing and Business Development), ensure exemplary operational service to the firm’s legal practitioners, and directly contribute to the organisation’s strategic objectives alongside the CEO and senior management team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guarantee exceptional support services, enabling lawyers to provide outstanding client solutions.
- Manage comprehensive induction processes for new team members, facilitating smooth integration.
- Oversee paralegal team recruitment, workflow management, performance evaluation, resourcing, and professional growth initiatives.
- Lead IT strategy, user support, and system implementation, leveraging external expertise and embracing emerging technologies including AI.
- Manage office spaces in Sydney and Melbourne, coordinating vendor relationships and maintaining optimal working environments.
- Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring full compliance supported by the firm's General Counsel.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive culture that supports staff engagement and satisfaction.
- Actively participate in shaping and implementing strategic plans to drive firm growth over the next two years.
- Serve as a key member of the firm's leadership group, reporting directly to the CEO.

The successful applicant could come from diverse professional backgrounds, including:
- A legally qualified professional seeking transition into operational leadership (lawyers interested in an operational role are particularly encouraged to apply);
- A practice manager looking to assume broader responsibilities, particularly in strategic management and organisational growth;
- An experienced operations professional with a solid background in law;
- An existing deputy to a Head of Operations, ready to progress.
