Be part of a purpose-led organisation with care at its core. Youâll make a difference by acting in the best interests of our communities and city. Be better together with collaborative and inclusive partnerships. Embrace possibilities and be open to new ideas and creating bold solutions.Â

About the role

Are you an experienced professional looking for an exciting opportunity to lead in one of the world’s most vibrant cities? The City of Sydney is undergoing a significant transformational change in relation to its Property Services, and we are moving from an outsourced model of property debt management to an inhouse model. We need a highly skilled and motivated individual to establish and take ownership of the framework, policies and systems of invoicing and collecting our property related debts.

The City of Sydney manages a unique and diverse range of assets, including heritage-listed commercial buildings, award-winning libraries, and operationally critical depots. The portfolio includes over 1,500 property interests worth $2.7 billion, covering assets such as building properties, footway agreements, vacant land, and road interests. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the realisation of our Sustainable Sydney 2030–2050 vision by driving high-performance in a key area of debt management.

As our Property Receivables Manager, you’ll:

  • develop and implement a strategic framework of best practice credit control and lead the development and delivery of technology systems, tools and resources to implement this strategic framework, including analysis and reporting on outcomes to all relevant stakeholders
  • manage data to ensure accurate and timely accounting, invoicing and collection of our property rents and license fees in accordance with contracts and Council policies
  • identify and propose changes for improvements based on data and trend analysis to maximise cash flow and ensure governance across the invoicing and collection processes.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • recent experience leading and managing debtor portfolios, with success driving high performance and efficiency and experience in issue resolution, as well as a proven track record of delivering process improvements and implementing automation in credit operations
  • detailed knowledge of and demonstrated experience in Australian debt recovery laws
  • sound understanding of contracts and experience in contract management.
