Principal Policy/Legislative Officer

Salary: $85 - $100 per hour + Super
3-month temp assignment with high likelihood of extension

Your new company
Multiple Legal Principal Policy Officer positions have become available for a 3-6month engagement to aid the teams increase workload and support/ lead the team in the delivery of initiatives in the Consumer Affairs portfolio.

Your new role
Reporting to the Senior Manager of the Regulation Policy Branch, the Legal Principal Policy Officer will be responsible for leading the development and management of reform policy and legislation within the Consumer Affairs portfolio. Further, you will be tasked with:

Driving programs of work and leading discussions with senior stakeholders with regard to the Minister, Consumer Affairs work program and other issues affecting the portfolio. Managing the preparation of Cabinet and Parliamentary documentation and the drafting of Ministerial and other correspondence for the Minister's portfolio as required. Legislative and regulatory drafting experience would be highly regarded. Developing responses to complex correspondence between the Minister and senior executives, including responses to Ministerial correspondence. What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced state government leader with an analytical mindset, supported by: Proven legal skills with experience in formulating policy and legislative advice. Experience in developing cabinet and project briefs consistent with business plan direction Proven track record of successfully managing and drafting complex legislation and regulations, reviews, programs and projects.
