About the Role:
In this critical position, you’ll play a key role in delivering specialist geospatial information and analytical support to the Pastoral Unit, leaseholders, and external clients. Using GIS technologies, including mobile, desktop, enterprise, and cloud-based options, you’ll provide expert advice, develop mapping solutions, and ensure that geospatial data management aligns with departmental objectives and legislative requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Pastoral Unit, Pastoral Board, and external clients to capture and interpret business requirements and provide tailored geospatial products.
- Develop authoritative geospatial data and mapping services that meet land management needs and support government priorities.
- Deploy configurable web-based mapping tools to streamline processes for the Pastoral Unit, leaseholders, and other stakeholders.
- Provide project support and technical guidance to ensure success in geospatial analysis and mapping projects.
- Lead training efforts on departmental geospatial standards and systems, offering informal support to your colleagues and clients.
Key role outcomes:
- Delivering geospatial information products that meet legislative and departmental needs.
- Ensuring accurate, consistent, and repeatable mapping services that enhance land management processes.
- Supporting clients through effective collaboration and developing practical, solution-oriented mapping tools.
- Playing a vital role in documenting and reporting on projects, ensuring clear communication and successful project outcomes.

Contract:
Contract till 30 June 2026
Desirable Qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in spatial science, natural resource/water resource management
Special Conditions:
- May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
- A current class “C" driver's licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
- Inter and intrastate and remote area travel is required, including travel in light aircraft.
- Some out of hours work is required, necessitating occasional overnight stays.
- A current First Aid Certificate is essential – if not held, must be obtained as soon as possible after employment.
- This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework. By applying for this role you consent to being screened under the process of obtaining a National Police Clearance (NPC), and to the Department requiring you to obtain an NPC.
Remuneration:
ASO5, $85,790 min - $95,413 max p.a.
