We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Menth Health Team.
The Repat Neuro-Behavioural Unit (RNBU) will care for people living with dementia, whose extreme behavioural and psychological symptoms mean their needs can't be met in mainstream residential care.

About the role:
Reporting to the Allied Health Manager, your role will provide high quality, compassionate, relationship-centred care to consumers living with dementia who experience associated behavioural and psychological symptoms at very severe to extreme levels.
Duties for this role include:
- Applying relevant clinical frameworks in service delivery including; trauma informed care, recovery orientated practice and consumer centric practice,
- Developing tailored activity programs and interventions that promote occupational engagement including reminiscence activities, sensory modulation, routine planning and activity engagement,
- Providing services to consumers which promote and facilitate the use of supports available at the residential care facility level and which take into account social and cultural diversities,
- Assisting with developing, implementing and evaluating quality improvement initiatives within the unit
Please note: Training relating to Occupational Therapy practice in behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia will be provided on commencement. This role operates over a seven day roster and includes 1 weekend per month roster.
About you:
- Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia,
- Must be highly motivated and have the ability to engage with consumers who have extremely high service needs,
- Competent in comprehensive assessment skills including, consumer needs analysis, mental state assessment, recognition of side-effects from medication and risk assessment,
- Experience in a multidisciplinary team environment in mental health.
