Austral Archaeology is seeking an experienced and passionate People & Culture Manager to join our growing team on a part-time basis (2–3 days per week, days flexible or shorter work days). You are an HR professional with experience in a leadership role, skilled in people and culture, HR operations, and employee engagement. You thrive in a dynamic and growing organisation, enjoy working with people, and are proactive in developing HR initiatives that support both employees and business goals.
You have strong expertise in employee relations, performance management, and workplace culture initiatives, along with experience in annual remuneration reviews and performance review calibration processes. You also have a strong understanding of industrial and HR risks, a sound knowledge of the HR legal framework, and a commitment to maintaining compliant and contemporary HR policies and procedures.
The Role
As Our People & Culture Manager, You Will
- Oversee HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations.
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, including performance management, dispute resolution, and compliance.
- Develop and implement workplace culture initiatives that support a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team.
- Support staff development through training, mentoring, and career pathways.
- Lead and manage the annual remuneration review process.
- Promote a positive workplace culture through engagement and well-being initiatives.
- Assist with HR policies, compliance, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and advise on HR legal matters.
- Continuously review and update company policies and procedures to ensure they remain compliant and in line with contemporary human resource practices.
- Execute accurate and timely onboarding, movement, and offboarding processes in line with company policies and procedures.
- Provide training and assistance to managers to ensure these processes are performed accurately and on time.
- Work closely with leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives.
- Experience in human resources, people and culture, or a related role.
- Experience in managing industrial and HR risks.
- Sound knowledge of the HR legal framework in Australia.
- Experience in policy development and ensuring HR practices align with current legislation and industry standards.
- Proven ability to execute accurate and timely HR processes, including onboarding and offboarding.
- Strong capability in training and supporting managers in HR procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- A tertiary qualification in human resources or a related field is desired.
