About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.About the role The Ministerial Transport Officer (MTO) role provides professional chauffeur services to Ministers and other officials. The role does not have standard hours. There may be periods of high engagement, equally there may be periods when there is low engagement. MTOs will be required to work varied and extended hours, sometimes at short notice, including early morning starts or late finishes, weekends, and public holidays. These may include overnight stays, depending on the specific assignments given to you these duties will be scheduled in advance, but also may be subject to late change dependant on the passenger's diary. As the main duties relate to driving, there are periods of sitting and potential sedentary work.
Key Accountabilities
- Transport passengers in a safe and timely manner with discretion and tact.
- Respond to passenger's special requests, including alterations to itineraries, and assisting passengers with baggage handling and associated office and support duties.
- Present to duty in a professional standard including the wearing of suit-standard uniform.
- Clean and maintain the vehicle to a high standard including routine servicing and repairs.
- Participate in out of hours work on a regular basis and ocassional overnight travel, ensuring readiness for such duties.
- Undertake administrative duties as required, including timesheets and logbook completion etc.
- Work effectively within a team environment, including contributing to a positive team culture, working collaboratively with others, and supporting the delivery of FCS services and outcomes.
- Understands the importance of making clients and their needs a primary focus for action, is resourceful and proactive in providing exceptional service delivery.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and team members in a confident and customer service-orientated manner.
- Able to apply good judgement, act with a high level of integrity and discretion, and adapt to dynamic circumstances whilst maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills, including effective digital literacy and skills using such software and APPS as MS Officer Suite; GPS and other relevant driving-related APPS.
- Capacity to drive a variety of chauffeur vehicles in accordance with F&CS and Passengers directions and requirements.
- Possession of a current full Victorian driver's license. It is expected that there are no or minimal Licence demerit points, and none that would fall within the significant range.
- Knowledge of Melbourne's metropolitan road network and regional roads in Victoria along with the ability to use a variety of GPS, GIS and other relevant map-based systems.
- Preferred applicants will be required to successfully undertake a Practical driving assessment. This includes demonstrating a high level of technical driving skills.
- Preferred applicant will be required to undertake a Medical Assessment by a medical provider nominated by the Employer.
- Available for out of hours work and overnight travel.
- Have and maintain a suitable level of fitness to perform necessary duties.
