About the role
As a Housing Specialist on the Immediate Housing Response Team at YFS Ltd, you will play a crucial role in providing rapid, person-centred housing solutions for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. This full-time position is based in Slacks Creek, Queensland, and involves working collaboratively with the broader YFS team to support clients in accessing safe and affordable accommodation.
What you'll be doing
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand each client's unique housing and support needs
- Proactively source and secure appropriate long-term or transitional housing options
- Liaise with real estate agents, landlords and other housing providers to facilitate access to accommodation
- Provide intensive, tailored support to assist clients in sustaining their tenancies
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate wraparound services and support
- Maintain detailed case notes and contribute to the ongoing development of the Immediate Housing Response program
What we're looking for
- Demonstrated experience in the community services or housing sector, with a strong understanding of homelessness and the barriers to housing access
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with a diverse range of clients
- Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to think creatively to overcome housing challenges
- Familiarity with the local housing market and established relationships with real estate agents and landlords
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team while also exercising independent decision-making
- Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community development or a related field

Role type: Maximum term, Full-time – contract end date 10th Feb 2027
Pay range: $97,689 a year, with salary packaging exempt from Fringe Benefits Tax available
