Maritime Safety Queensland’s (MSQ) Waterway Operations team is seeking a high performing compliance and marine professional to undertake the role of the Gold Coast Marine Officer.
The Gold Coast based position will be lead delivery of MSQ’s operational program of work including conducting educational and compliance activities to promote safe vessel operations, undertake comprehensive investigations of Marine Incidents, prepare for and respond to maritime emergencies such as oil spills and maintain maritime infrastructure including the Aids to Navigation.

If you are a keen, proactive self-starter and have strong skills in confidently managing regional marine safety initiatives, educational programs and knowledge of marine infrastructure then you're strongly encouraged to apply. We are seeking a high performing, experienced Marine Officer to join our Waterway Operations team.
As a Marine Officer you'll be required to work outside standard operating hours and on some weekends to conduct education and compliance operations and monitor marine activity. Also, Marine Officers may be required to participate in oil pollution emergencies inter and intrastate, and undertake other travel required as part of a multifunctional team.
As a Marine Officer Grade 3, you will play an important role where some of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Working in partnership with stakeholders to embed their awareness of marine safety and environmental sustainability
• Processing and recommending approval of applications and authorities
• Conducting compliance activities monitoring the condition and operation of vessels against legislative requirements
• Undertaking educational activities to encourage self compliance
• Undertaking comprehensive investigations into non-compliance with relevant legislation.
