Task & Responsibilities

1. Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
2. Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
3. Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen and waiting staff
4. Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
5. Preparing and cooking food
6. Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
7. Selecting and training staff
8. Freezing and preserving foods
9. Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and standards
10. Managing kitchen operations and workflow to optimize efficiency
11. Supervising food preparation and ensuring consistency in quality and taste
12. Maintaining inventory and ensuring proper storage of ingredients and supplies

Qualification & Experience

1. A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related field
2. Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience as a Chef
3. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
4. Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment
5. Knowledge of hotel/motel operations and industry standards preferred
6. Understanding of food safety laws and kitchen hygiene standards
