Join Our Team as a Flood Management Officer!
Are you passionate about making communities safer and more resilient to natural disasters? We are seeking a Flood Management Officer to play a key role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of flood management initiatives as part of the Department’s role under the State Emergency Management Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and support a range of flood management activities in line with the State’s Emergency Management arrangements.
- Conduct flood risk assessments and manage vital flood-related data .
- Engage with communities to promote flood awareness and education .
- Contribute to the development of flood management policies and procedures .
- Provide expert advice, briefings, and reports to support flood mitigation and emergency preparedness efforts.
About You: You are a proactive and collaborative professional with a strong understanding of flood risk management. Your analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex information clearly will be key to your success in this role.

Contract:
12 Month Contract
Essential Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Tertiary degree in Engineering, Natural Resource Science or Science.
- Knowledge in relation to flood management, surface water hydrology or floodplain hydraulics is essential.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Post Graduate qualifications in flood management, surface water hydrology or floodplain hydraulics.
Special Conditions:
- May be required to participate in fire and flood management activities, including emergency response.
- A current class “C” driver’s licence is essential.
- Some intra/interstate travel involving overnight absences may be required.
- Some out of hours work may be required.
- May be required to participate on a roster system for duties associated with emergency response including on call and standby arrangements.
Remuneration:
PO1, $68,478 min - $83,594 max p.a..
