Description:
As the Assistant Review Officer, you will apply solid judgement, analysis, decision making, and technical writing skills to assist with determining objection matters and managing review applications to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) and appeals to the Supreme Court.The role is based in the Queensland Revenue Office's (QRO) Review and Dispute Resolution division which is responsible for determining objections to assessments and other reviewable decisions, litigation functions, and coordinating document requests.

Your typical day as an Assistant Review Officer may include:
- Reviewing any new appeal notifications, internal communications or updates from stakeholders
- Prioritising tasks to adhere to QCAT or Supreme Court deadlines, such as filings
- Conducting research on legislation, case law, or procedural rules related to ongoing review or litigation proceedings
- Assisting with preparing legal drafts, such as briefs to Counsel, correspondence, notices and affidavits
- Assist with managing applications to QCAT, appeals to the Supreme Court and prosecutions.
- Assist in preparing clear, accurate and timely determination of objections against assessments and decisions.
- Assist with preparing briefs to legal advisors in respect of revenue and administrative laws and other matters.
- Assist in the coordination of applications for documents e.g. under the Right to Information Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009.
- Sound level of experience in statutory interpretation
- Sound level of technical writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
