About the Role:
This is a key role in the establishment and ongoing operation ofthe Data and Analytics Team at the Goulburn Valley Public Health Unit (GVPHU). GV Health LPHU is a local public health unitcovering regional areas in central Victoria and is part of a state-wide restructure of public health delivery in Victoria. The Data Analyst will work closely with the Manager – Data and Analytics in the establishment of the GV Health LPHU intelligence function. This will include working closely with the epidemiologists, clinical staff and operational staff within the unit to develop analytical projects and reporting tools across the primary domains of function in the public health unit, including communicable disease control, health promotion, and disease prevention.
This role will also be required to liaise with equivalent roles in other public health units in Victoria to share intelligence and collaboratively develop processes for analysis and reporting.Under the supervision of the Data and Analytics Manager, the Data Analyst will have the opportunity to draw on a range of government and hospital data sources to develop projects that will underpin insight-driven actions for the betterment of public health in the Goulburn Valley. There will also be opportunities to develop analysis into academic research in collaboration with partner organisations including the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University.
This role will also assist with a range of analytical projects completed by staff epidemiologists, research students and members of other teams within the unit and health service. This role is required to develop a good understanding of all existing data sharing agreements between GV Health LPHU and external agencies, and ensure that data transfer, storage and dissemination is in keeping with these guidelines and broader legislative requirements for data privacy.
We are looking for a Data Analyst with:

A tertiary qualification in data science, epidemiology, public health or related field or equivalent applied experience.

Experience with relevant software tools and platforms for data management.

Sound knowledge of population health information, analytics, evaluation and monitoring systems.
