About the opportunity
Coaching is a practical, non-therapeutic service aimed at guiding carers through conversations about change, helping them explore steps toward positive outcomes without providing counselling or crisis intervention.
Carer coaching sessions focus on key topics relevant to the challenges of caregiving, offering information, practical tips, resources, reflection activities, and real-life stories from Australian carers. Topics include health and wellbeing, the caring journey, support systems, inclusion and advocacy, work and study, finances, daily life, and emotional wellbeing. Facilitated sessions align with, but are not tied to, self-guided online coaching, which can reinforce or extend discussions.
Reporting to the Carer Coaching and In-person Peer Support Coordinator, the Carer Gateway Coach will be responsible for:
- Facilitating the program in accordance with training and the Facilitated Coaching Service Guidelines
- Facilitate one-one-one coaching to carers, to achieve the program's required KPI's
- Creating an environment Carers will find welcoming, real and empowering
- Ensure relationships with Carers are positive and are built on Wellways values
- Engaging professionally and positively with key external and internal stakeholders
- Community engagement/ networking and establishing referral pathways
- To work autonomously while also being a supportive and flexible team member
Please note - this role will require the Carer Coach to travel within the region and occasionally work outside of the standard business hours as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Qualifications and/or experience working in community services, allied health or carer/family peer positions
- Previous experience with group development and facilitation is favourable
- Right to work within Australia
- Current valid Driver's Licence and the ability to undertake some travel
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (free online course)
- Satisfactory National Police Records Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check/Yellow Card
- Working with Children's Check/Blue Card (Employee/Paid)
