Description:
The Arcadia Group, developers and managers of some of WA's premier Retirement Villages, is seeking an enthusiastic Maintenance/Handyman for a part-time position ( Monday, Wednesday and Friday) at our Retirement Village in Mandurah. About the Role:
In this role, you will report directly to the Village Manager and be responsible for a variety of general maintenance tasks to ensure the comfort and safety of our residents. Your duties will include:
General Maintenance :
- Undertaking maintenance requests such as minor repair jobs, changing light fittings and globes, replacing batteries in smoke detectors, and checking roof spaces.
- Inspecting and fixing roof tiles and gutters.
- Performing basic plumbing repairs and replacements.
- Assisting with moving larger items as needed.
Specialised Tasks :
- Testing and Resetting of ECS units.
- Fault finding and repair of village gates.
- After-hours on-call support (if required).
- Maintaining and testing the village swimming pool.
- Keeping fish ponds clean, including filters, pumps, and UV lights.
- Ensuring the general cleanliness of common areas, including keeping pathways clear and tidy.
External Area Maintenance :
- Ensuring the perimeter fencing is free of graffiti and excess rubbish.
- Attending to the general maintenance and cleanliness of external areas.
Coordination and Safety :
- Liaising with and coordinating external tradesmen for complex maintenance issues.
- Ensuring safe work practices at all times.
The Successful Applicant Will Have:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills.
- A pleasant, patient, and calm manner, especially when working with older people.
- Attention to detail with the ability to complete tasks within required timeframes.
- The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- A current driver’s license.
- A valid Test and Tag Certificate or be willing to obtain one.
- A valid Police Clearance (issued within the last 90 days).
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical examination.
