The Arcadia Group, developers and managers of some of WA's premier Retirement Villages, is seeking an enthusiastic Maintenance/Handyman for a part-time position ( Monday, Wednesday and Friday) at our Retirement Village in Mandurah. If you are energetic, caring, and enjoy working in a community setting with seniors, this role is for you.

About the Role:

In this role, you will report directly to the Village Manager and be responsible for a variety of general maintenance tasks to ensure the comfort and safety of our residents. Your duties will include:

General Maintenance :

  • Undertaking maintenance requests such as minor repair jobs, changing light fittings and globes, replacing batteries in smoke detectors, and checking roof spaces.
  • Inspecting and fixing roof tiles and gutters.
  • Performing basic plumbing repairs and replacements.
  • Assisting with moving larger items as needed.

Specialised Tasks :

  • Testing and Resetting of ECS units.
  • Fault finding and repair of village gates.
  • After-hours on-call support (if required).
  • Maintaining and testing the village swimming pool.
  • Keeping fish ponds clean, including filters, pumps, and UV lights.
  • Ensuring the general cleanliness of common areas, including keeping pathways clear and tidy.

External Area Maintenance :

  • Ensuring the perimeter fencing is free of graffiti and excess rubbish.
  • Attending to the general maintenance and cleanliness of external areas.

Coordination and Safety :

  • Liaising with and coordinating external tradesmen for complex maintenance issues.
  • Ensuring safe work practices at all times.

The Successful Applicant Will Have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills.
  • A pleasant, patient, and calm manner, especially when working with older people.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to complete tasks within required timeframes.
  • The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • A current driver’s license.
  • A valid Test and Tag Certificate or be willing to obtain one.
  • A valid Police Clearance (issued within the last 90 days).
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical examination.
