Hopkins Correctional Centre is a medium security male prison facility focused on preparing prisoners for their transition back into the community.
About the Role:
As an Industry Officer, you will be responsible for supervising a team of prisoners that work within prison industry and prison service areas. Industries operational at Hopkins Correctional Centre include metal fabrication and assembly, custom & number plates, signage, upholstery, timber. Service areas include catering, maintenance, and environmental services.
In a vocational training environment, the Industry Officer will coach, mentor and motivate prisoners, placing emphasis upon individual offender management with a view to rehabilitation.
Some of your duties will include:
- Typically supervising a team working to ensure the operational aims of the industries are achieved. These include commercial production targets and customer expectations, ordering and maintaining control of stock, materials, financial records and providing an industry model-workplace training environment.
- Effectively managing all work areas to ensure the safety and security of prisoners, staff and visitors. This includes appropriate levels of surveillance and interaction within the facility, and monitoring staff and prisoners for compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety, and security procedures.
- Delivering performance management targets and undertaking professional development as required to enhance the role as part of a staff team, with emphasis on following industry requirements for OH&S, quality assurance, monitoring, recording and record keeping systems of prison industry functional areas and recommending improvements where necessary.

About You:
As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Completion of (or willing to undertake) Prison Pre-Service Training
- An appropriate trade qualification and/or experience relevant to industries operational in Hopkins Correctional Centre.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).
