The Position:
The Emergency Physician/ FACEM/ Consultant is responsible for delivering expert emergency medical care and facilitating the efficient movement of patients through the Emergency Department.
During clinical shifts, the Emergency Physician provides strong clinical leadership, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
They also supervise the work of Registrars and Junior Medical Officers (JMOs), while actively contributing to the education of junior doctors and medical students. Collaboration with other Health specialists is expected when appropriate, and the role includes participation in some after-hours and weekend service provision.
The Emergency Department includes the following:
• 36 bed ED – increased from 18
• Three state-of-the-art resuscitation bays
• A Behavioural Assessment room, mental health consult spaces, forensic room
• Two negative pressure isolation cubicles
• Nine additional acute care cubicles
• A dedicated Fast Track area with seven cubicles and a consultation room
• A nine bed Short Stay Unit, including one isolation room
• A CT scan room, ultrasound room and two new X-Ray rooms
Classification:
• Annual Staff Specialist Base Salary: Year 1 ($262,099) – Year 9 ($360,391)
• Annua Continuing Medical Education Allowances: $30,468.29
• Plus superannuation
• Plus further allowances following the AMA Victoria – Victorian Public Health Sector – Medical Specialists Enterprise Agreement 2021-2026
Hospital can assist with:

The Facility:
The hospital stands as the major acute referral hospital for the region, boasting 200+ beds and serving as a specialised referral centre for northern Victoria. It caters to a population of around 90,000 and manages nearly 19,000 inpatient cases and 23,000 visits to the Emergency Department annually. The facility delivers an extensive array of acute specialist medical and surgical services, encompassing an emergency department, a critical care unit, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, and specialised aged care. Additionally, they provide community rehabilitation, inpatient care, community services, aged care, and psycho-geriatric mental health services.
The Location:
A bustling rural city, located in Northern Victoria only a 2 hour drive from Melbourne with an outdoor lifestyle that is also home to excellent eateries. Soak up the outdoor lifestyle on the banks of the River, which runs right through town, or head further afield on a camping trip to the nearby wetlands and granite hills of the National Park, the ideal spot for some wilderness adventures.
The city is situated within an easy drive of major attractions in the area including the vast number of wineries and the gourmet food and wine region.
Requirements:
1. Specialist Registration with AHPRA as a FACEM
2. IMG’s eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway (training in the UK, USA, NZ, Canada or Ireland)
3. SIMG’s assessed by ACEM College as Substantially comparable will be considered (doctors currently interviewing with ACEM may express their interest)
4. Doctors that will be awarded the fellowship (FACEM) in the next 6 months are encouraged to apply
