The Role
As a cyber-security officer, your role in uplifting the security posture of Defence industry will require well-rounded experience in program management, technical assessments, development of frameworks, data analytics and reporting.
Communication of cyber security issues and opportunities is a key aspect to the role. As the role is industry facing, you will need to be comfortable talking to a wide range of industry representatives and be able to engage with them.
Some of your responsibilities will be:
- Contribute to the successful delivery of the cyber uplift program.
- Identify and assess security risks against whole of government and international standards.
- Develop innovative and effective solutions to resolve issues facing the program.
- Facilitate contract management and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with legislative and procurement policies, processes and procedures including performance reporting.
- Apply your knowledge and experience of computer-based systems to gain an understanding of system function, operation and security posture.
- Enable the development of various cyber security requirements, frameworks and process maps.
- Develop productive and effective relationships with industry, and Defence policy partners such as ASD.
- Drive continual improvement while encouraging staff to achieve their full potential.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. We are looking for program officers who have a problem-solving mindset that will ensure that Defence and Defence industry are secure.
The skills we are looking for are:
- Demonstrated understanding of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Essential Eight (E8) requirements is advantageous.
- Proven ability to manage contracts along with a demonstrated experience in data analytics and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience with wide range of stakeholder engagement, at a whole of government level as well as Industry.
- A proven ability to communicate complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences along with strong written communication skills.
- High level of organisational skills, self- driven with the ability to influence others to achieve business objectives.
- Be passionate about cyber-security and risk management, ability to work as a team and adapt to changing priorities in a high-pressure environment.
- Takes the initiative to resolve issues by identifying and developing ideas through analysis of alternative courses of action and their implications.
- Experience in analysing complex security issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions to improve processes and address challenges.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, coordinating efforts, and ensuring effective communication to achieve shared goals.
- Adapt to changing priorities, managing competing demands, and navigating through evolving requirements and regulations.
