Role Overview:After spending a successful 12 months in Darwin delivering two Defence projects, we have recently been awarded our largest project to date — a high-profile, 3-year project for US Defence — and we’re on the hunt for a talented Contracts Administrator to join our Darwin team.
This is a newly created role, offering a rare opportunity to step into a key position at the very start of a major Defence project. This role is pivotal in ensuring commercial rigour across our projects, driving compliance, and supporting successful delivery through effective contract administration.
As a key member of the team, you’ll be responsible for interpreting design documentation, preparing procurement and subcontractor packages, managing contracts, and maintaining accurate financial and project records. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Subcontractors, and Legal Advisors to manage risk and deliver high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:Interpret drawings, specifications, and documentation to develop scope of works and procurement packages.Draft and prepare tender documents for subcontractor pricing.Maintain accurate cost tracking and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.Review and process subcontractor and supplier claims and invoices.Ensure compliance with contract terms, service levels, and legal obligations.Draft and negotiate contracts and manage the lifecycle from initiation to close-out.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve contract-related matters.Support project teams in managing commercial risk and driving contract performance.Implement innovative contract management strategies to enhance project outcomes.
What We're Looking For:2–5 years’ experience as a Contracts Administrator or Quantity Surveyor within the construction and engineering industry.A keen understanding of contract law, commercial frameworks, and cost management.Proven ability to draft, review, and manage a wide range of contracts and tender documents.Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.Ability to analyse contracts, mitigate risks, and support project execution.Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and time management.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Project, SharePoint). Experience using Procore is an advantage.Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
