Glencore Technology is one the world’s leading electrolytic copper refineries, capable of producing 300,000 tonnes per year of premium-quality ISA brand LME Grade A copper cathode using Glencore’s proprietary IsaKIDD refining process. Glencore Port Operations at the Port of Townsville is the export gateway for our north Queensland products.

Glencore Technology are currently advertising a full-time vacancy that exists in the Plate Manufacture (Electrical / Automation and Control) Department for the role of Electrical Technician. Reporting to the Day Services Supervisor.
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Promoting and delivering a culture of excellence in health, safety, environment, operations, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical support for equipment in Plate Manufacture, to assist with equipment set up, fine-tuning of equipment, planned maintenance, support breakdown maintenance with troubleshooting, interface with external support, and sourcing of spare parts. The Plate Manufacturing equipment includes:
- Laser Cutter and Laser Etcher
CNC Milling Machine - Winner Machine
Fabrication Shop Robot Welder – Esab welder& Kuka robot
Plating Shop Rectifiers
Guillotine, Roller Leveller, POS scanners, and Packing Shed Equipment
- Prepare Laser Cutter programs, CNC Milling Machine Programming, and assist with the equipment set up for manufacturing.
- Provide support for electrical equipment repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Provide support for projects including the scoping, purchasing, contractor supervision, and installation of new electrical equipment.
- The use of purchasing systems to purchase items, and develop spare parts lists.
You will have the following skill set and attributes:
- High level of attention to detail and flexible approach to business needs with great time management skills.
- Experience in a similar technical role within a large manufacturing or processing site would be preferred.
- Electrical &/or Automation and Control qualifications.
- Hold a current Electrical License.
- Intermediate knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
- Hold a current manual Australian driver’s license
- Project management experience would be well regarded
