How will I help?

The role of Associate Director, Chief Investment Office (CIO), is to support the management of global macro risks within the balance sheet which includes but is not limited to:

  • Short term interest rate and foreign currency market risk arising from offshore funding, offshore capital, and foreign currency translation. Risks products include spot FX, FX Swap, Xccy basis, interest rate derivatives as well as some government bonds. Key currencies are AUD, NZD, USD with some JPY, EUR, GBP, CAD.
  • Execute hedges, analyse hedging and trading performance, forecast future cashflow requirements and use broader data to provide performance enhancement and trade execution efficiency.
  • Support the pricing of issuance and execution of hedging instruments on behalf of Westpac and Westpac Securities New Zealand Limited (WSNZL) funding programs.
  • Support the management of risk positions and liquidity risks prudently and within all relevant limits.
  • Optimisation of derivative hedging and associated derivative costs.
  • Drive and maintain a strong risk culture with a relentless focus on initiatives to strengthen the control environment.

Please note you will be required to attend the office 5 days per week, with some flexibility if and when required.

What do I need?

  • A relevant bachelor or post graduate degree, 3 years or more work experience in banking/financial markets would be beneficial.
  • A strong background in data analysis.
  • Knowledge of funding and liquidity, as well as balance sheet management, funding tools and funding risk would be a plus.
  • A good understanding of how to price and execute financial market transactions.
  • Excellent excel skills and strong analytical skills. Programming skills are a bonus.
  • Strong accountability and responsibility with the ability to work in an achievement orientated team environment.
