About the role
The Managing Director role is a senior leadership position responsible for growth, client relationships and overall performance of the accounting practice division.
This is not a Managing Partner role. This role is about agility, adaptability and creativity.
Reporting to the Group Chief Operating Officer, this role will be autonomous in the day-to-day leadership and strategic direction of the professional accounting practice division.
The role will be responsible for defining and executing the company's vision, mission, and long-term goals whilst driving short-term alignment and focus.
Day to day duties include:
- Developing and implementing scalable business strategies to deliver group targets.
- Creating an operational environment to fuel rapid and sustainable growth.
- Identifying new market opportunities, client segments, and revenue streams.
- Exceptional stakeholder management including building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, and investors.
- Being the focal point of organisational change and future growth, representing the organisation as an aspirational leader at networking events, conferences, and industry forums.
- Overseeing financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure profitability.
- Monitoring financial performance and implementing strategies for revenue growth.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment that attracts, retains, and develops top talent.
About you
The right person will be exceptional at creating structure and clarity to a blank canvas. This is a role where the right person can have a positive impact in a short space of time and reap the rewards in both the short and long term. You will be ambitious and wake up every day wanting to have a positive impact on your clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- 10+ years of experience in public accounting, with demonstrable leadership experience where growth and change management were at the forefront of decision making.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
- CA ANZ, CPA Australia, or CIMA qualified preferred.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and drive business development.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, or similar).
