About the role:

It is an exciting time for Crown Law as the in-house firm for the Queensland Government continues to grow. This has seen two new opportunities created to join the large, well-resourced and collegiate Commercial Dispute Resolution practice.

You will work closely with and be mentored by experienced lawyers, providing dispute resolution advice to a range of government departments and agencies.

Day to day, you will:

  • run a consistent file load of litigated matters, including drafting pleadings, affidavits and other court documents and correspondence;
  • advise on liability, evidence, quantum, settlement, costs and strategic direction including working closely with Counsel mostly in the Supreme and District Courts;
  • work across a mix of government litigation that will include: commercial disputes, property disputes, repossession of property, debt recovery, insolvency, property damage claims, negligence claims, injunctive relief, class actions, defamation, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution and misfeasance in public office claims; and
  • advise and work on complex and sensitive matters for consideration at Ministerial, Cabinet and inter-governmental levels.

Skills/Experience:

To be considered for these roles you will:

  • have 4-10+ years' PAE in litigation with strong training in a well regarded law firm;
  • have a good working knowledge of the UCPR and experience handling Supreme and District Court level matters;
  • work collaboratively in a team;
  • be accustomed to a consistent workload and able to pivot from matter to matter (given the breadth of this practice);
  • have experience supervising work and working with more junior lawyers; and
  • have a dedication to client service delivery and achieving excellent outcomes for your clients.
