About the Role
The Ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting schools to:
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Lead, coordinate and undertake high level strategic activities to support regional and system priorities and the provision of advice to school teams, relating to supporting first nations students and families.
- Apply strong curriculum, teaching and learning knowledge to support schools:
- to implement pedagogical practices that create a cultural safe and engaging learning environment for first nations students.
- e.mbed the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures cross-curriculum priority.
- Collect, manage, and report on datasets across multiple platforms to support evaluation and review of projects.
- Cultivate effective relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and lead programs including resources and capability development for First Nations Strategy and Partnership priorities, across Metropolitan North.
A mandatory requirement of this role is :
- For this position, it is a genuine occupational requirement that it be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person as set out in Section 7 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of that Act.
Verification of Aboriginal heritage and/or Torres Strait Island heritage
- For administrative purposes, in relation to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role, an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander person is someone who identifies as an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander person is:
- of Aboriginal descent;
- of Torres Strait Islander descent;
- or, identifies with both heritages;
- Accepted as an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal community and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which they live.
- By definition a person who is not an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander person cannot be employed (on any basis) to perform the duties of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role.
- Applicants to this position may have to provide confirmation of their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
