About the role:
As technical expert for the Department for Education the School Bus Examiner / Technical Support Advisor is responsible for the provision of an effective school bus inspection service across South Australia within the context of State and Federal legislative and Department for Education requirements.
This position is one of the three positions within the Department for Education that is recognised by the Minister for the Department of Infrastructure and Transport to be the Department for Education’s approved inspection officer under the Transport Act to undertake and authorise inspections of both department owned and contracted school buses.
This position is responsible for a large rural and remote field-based work program providing high-level technical advice to internal and external stakeholders to ensure the safety of over 200 Department for Education owned and operated school buses.
The role under its sole discretion ensures that service and safety issues are managed and resolved appropriately by liaising with service providers, schools, departmental officers and other government departments.
Qualifications:
Essential: Qualified Motor mechanic or equivalent trade qualifications.
Desirable: Nil.
Special conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
OPS4 $76,561 - $80,256 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (11.5%).
