The Client:

AFS Logistics Australia Pty Ltd is an independently owned and operated Australian freight management company employing over 100 supply chain professionals. They now seek an experienced Accountant to join the team.

The Role:

The position for hire is an Accountant and will be for a full time basis at $80,000 to $85,000 per annum, and will be based in Melbourne Airport, VIC.

The Responsibilities:

• Treasury operations including daily bank balance reporting and corporate credit card program management.
• Daily Cash flow analysis, Monitoring, Forecasting, and Reporting.
• Daily Bank reconciliations and month-end processes including journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Preparation and review of creditor and debtor control accounts.
• Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register and Depreciation Schedules.
• Management of Fringe Benefits Register and related processing in OneSource or equivalent.
• Preparation of Board Papers and meeting monthly reporting obligations.
• Assisting with preparation of statutory returns, Business Activity Statements, Fringe Benefits Tax Returns, and financial reporting preparation for external auditors.
• Supporting tax compliance matters and preparation of accounts.
• Contributing to process improvement and providing leave relief across the finance team as required.
• Ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and adherence to accounting principles including accruals.
• Planning, preparation and execution of financial statements with appropriate note disclosures.
• Providing solutions based on current business and financial conditions.
• Maintain accurate financial statements/financial data using MYOB accounting platform.
• Contribute towards process improvement and implementation and ensuring client confidentiality and privacy, etc.

The Requirements:

• At least a Bachelor degree qualifications in Accounting
• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a professional or commercial capacity gained within Australia
• At least 3 years of proficiency in accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, or QuickBooks
• At least 3 years of basic understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and tax regulations
• High standard of Microsoft Excel with some exposure to Power Bi/Analytics
• Ability to perform bank reconciliations and maintain financial records
• Ability to manage accounts payable and receivable processes
• Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to multitask while maintaining a calm and efficient demeanour
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and under immense pressure at times
