Governance, Strategy and Planning is seeking a motivated Policy Officer to join its governance team to support the department's key strategic governance committees and help mature governance capability across the department.

We are seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has strong logistical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills to support each committee's operations, as well as support the implementation of the department's refreshed Governance Framework.

This is a temporary 6-month, full-time opportunity, in an organisation that embraces flexible working arrangements and provides a supportive and collegiate work environment.

About The Role

The Governance and Complaints team is seeking a Policy Officer to provide secretariat support to the department's key strategic governance committees, and help mature governance capability and processes across divisions, regions and schools. The role will also have the opportunity to support the implementation of priorities under the department's refreshed Governance Framework, which includes a number of programs of work focussed on building governance capability and processes.

You will work in a high-performing team delivering products to support frontline and corporate staff to effectively and confidently perform their duties. Governance, Strategy and Planning offers a flexible and inclusive workplace where you can build your skills and knowledge, collaborate, and meaningfully contribute to the department's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities Include

  • Managing governance committee logistics to ensure groups meet their operational requirements.
  • Coordination of other governance committee activities on behalf of committee secretariats.
  • Providing a high level of support, advice and customer service to stakeholders.
  • Supporting and developing products and processes to build organisational capability.
  • Quality assuring information for alignment to policies, procedures and requirements.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation and coordination skills.
  • Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of systems and processes.
  • Excellent communicator who enjoys working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work across a number of areas, in a fast-paced environment, and prioritise accordingly.
