About the Opportunity - Business Analyst
WorkCover Queensland is embarking on an exciting enterprise transformation journey to modernise our systems, enhance customer experiences, and deliver greater value. This is a unique opportunity to help shape change at scale, right from the start. As an IT Business Analyst in our Digital and Technology team, you’ll join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential for extension, given the scale of transformation already underway and planned into the future.
This is a key opportunity to support a range of high-impact initiatives across WorkCover Queensland. The role will focus on early-stage project work — helping shape the future of our enterprise transformation through deep discovery, meaningful stakeholder engagement, and insightful analysis.
In the early stages of your engagement, your focus will be on actively analysing the current state and identifying opportunities for improvement that will shape the direction and scope of future delivery — including putting forward recommendations for projects that may be stood up as a result. Working closely with stakeholders, you’ll investigate pain points, define business needs, and support system and process improvement opportunities.
The ideal candidate is proactive, curious, and collaborative — someone who values clarity, evidence-based insight, and building the right foundation for change.
You will also bring:
-
Demonstrated experience in business analysis across the full lifecycle, preferably in insurance/financial services (advantageous), including the ability to elicit, document, and manage both functional and non-functional requirements in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
-
Proven experience working through the discovery phase or early-stage project activities, or compliance/legislative/regulatory projects is advantageous but not essential.
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess current-state operations and develop future-state recommendations and models that deliver tangible business benefits, driving optimisation and improvement opportunities.
-
Proven ability to facilitate workshops and engage with diverse stakeholders, translating business needs into clear technical outcomes while effectively managing scope, risks, and dependencies.
-
Experience in stakeholder engagement, requirements scoping, and process mapping including BPMN, with the ability to contribute to multiple phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation through to delivery.
